ICM Awards guidelines

Credit Professional of the Year
The nominated candidates should be able to demonstrate a tangible and measurable improvement in their particular field over the last 12 months. This might be, for example an improvement in debtor ageing or debt profile but could equally be an improvement in the efficiency of data processing, depending on their role and responsibility.

They will have to show a consistent and rigorous approach to team development and training,
and demonstrate recognition of individual/team effort.

Additionally, evidence of a structured approach to their business discipline demonstrating a considered
and socially responsible approach will be required.

Credit Personality of the Year
Nominated individuals should be able to demonstrate a significant contribution to society, through charitable efforts, or significant personal achievement despite the odds. Judges will need to see how this nominee’s efforts have benefited and improved the lives of others, either individuals or communities.

Votes should be submitted by text message following an article in Credit Management showing all the nominees. Voting will continue at icm09 by electronic submission with screens showing progress.

The Unsung Hero Award
Nominations should be able to demonstrate, with supporting documentary evidence, how an unsung hero – possibly a member of a much larger team – has made a significant contribution to their business leading to tangible improvements as a direct result of their actions, and whose contribution might otherwise have passed unnoticed.

Developing the Team Award
Written descriptions of development plans will be required, together with detailed implementation plans, and evidence of best practice in the sharing of personal development objectives and reviews. Documentary evidence of real team improvements resulting from such plans will also be expected.

Newcomer of the Year Award
Evidence of exceptional performance will be required from an individual with 12 months or less experience. The judges will be looking for someone who has made a real difference since they arrived on the scene, and where results clearly illustrate their impact.

Innovative Solution of the Year
Judges are looking for an initiative, supported by documentary evidence that illustrates a unique solution to a common problem, together with proof of its implementation and the resulting improvement in performance.

Performance Improvement Award
Documentary evidence to prove an improvement in performance over the last twelve months will be required. The improvement might be to collections performance or to application handling, for example, but will be within the specific responsibility of the individual or team nominated together with a description of the action taken to generate this improvement. The judges will also want a detailed description of the actions planned and implemented to achieve the improvement.

Fraud Prevention Award
Entries will need to detail the actual measures introduced to prevent fraud, together with an analysis of reductions in fraudulent transactions that result.

International Trade Award
Nominated entrants should demonstrate how they have adapted to ensure international trade is maximised whilst the resulting debt exposure is controlled and UK, local and international regulations are met.
